Asbestos Removal Training - SafeWork NSW Approved

Sydney Safety Training is a NSW Safe Work approved asbestos removal training RTO ART #10000026.  If you do not get accredited by a SafeWork accredited Asbestos training RTO, your accreditation will not be accepted by SafeWork NSW.  To see who is approved, click here.  We conduct training and education in specific units of competency for both Class A and Class B asbestos removal work as well as the asbestos removal supervisor certification.

The NON FRIABLE (Class B) unit of competency must be completed before the FRIABLE (Class A) removal unit of competency. This is a WorkSafe NSW requirement.

All attendees except for AWARENESS must also hold and present on the day of training a Statement of Attainment showing either “CPCCOHS1001A- Work safely in the construction industry” OR “CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry”.   Either of these units of competency are also a prerequisite for asbestos training.  If you completed a WHITE CARD formal training AFTER September 2009 you will have this unit of commpetency, but not if you DID THE TRAINING before that date.  THIS IS NOT A SAFEWORK PREREQUISITE, BUT A NATIONAL TRAINING AUTHORITY REQUIREMENT THAT CANNOT BE WAIVED.

If you do not present a Statement of Attainment for either of these units on the day of training, you cannot complete the training, and will be asked to reschedule your course.  This is NOT NEGOTIABLE, as it is a training authority pre-requisite.

CERTIFICATION

A licensed asbestos removalist must not direct or allow a worker to carry out licensed asbestos removal work unless they are satisfied the worker holds a certification that is relevant to the class of licensed asbestos removal work they will be carrying out.

Workers (including the asbestos removal supervisors) who are carrying out licensed asbestos removal work are required to acquire a certification by completing units of competencies to show they have the relevant training to be able to remove asbestos. The units of competency completed by the person will determine what type of asbestos work they can carry out. Asbestos removal supervisors will have additional units of competency to complete
